Get plugged into the Life of the Church
Following the Liturgical Calendar is an important step in your daily life as an Orthodox Christian. Feast days, Fast days, Saints, and Scripture: all are important to how we structure our time. Each day we honor Saints and read Scripture. The Church has provided us with the resources we need to embed ourselves into the life and rhythms of the Church.
OCA has the resources for daily Scriptures and lives of the Saints.

Helpful information
What are some “safe” internet sources of information for us at St. Stephens?
While these sites have some good info for particular questions you might have, we urge you to talk to parishoners, catechists and clergy at St. Stephens for most of your questions. Our Library has many good books as well! The Library is open almost every Sunday after Liturgy. Feel free to browse.
Prayer / Fasting / Almsgiving
Prayer
Prayer books are available in our library. Morning and Evening prayers should become part of your daily routine.
Fasting
Generally we fast every Wednesday and Friday and during the 40 days before Nativity and we fast during the Lenten season. We also have a fasting season for the Dormition of the Theotokos and the Apostles Fast. Please check this link for information. There are helpful calendars online as well. This article talks about why we fast, from Father Stephen Freeman.
Alms
Prayer, Fasting, and Alms go hand in hand in the Orthodox life.
